August 1, 2016 - Monday in Nauvoo

Today marked one of five remaining P-days for these senior missionaries.  We began the day early with our morning devotional and prayers. By 5:00am, we were ready to begin our morning walk around Nauvoo and enjoy the quiet exercise.  We were back home by 6:10am and we were trying to be very quiet for our guests to sleep in.  We had breakfast and got ready for our 8:00am temple session.

The session was over half full and our senior missionary friends, the Skinner's,  were already dressed and ready to go.  We have really enjoyed our association with them!  Then, after our session ended, we took our mission departure papers to the mission office and notified FM of our departure day.  We are gearing up for our stay with PopPop, here in less than a month now, and helping him celebrate his 93rd birthday!  We plan on being on the road to Virginia by early Tuesday morning, August 30th.

After dropping off the various forms for our departure, we drove to Keokuk for our groceries.  We have really enjoyed the shopping experience at the Aldi's grocery store there.  The prices they have on almost every item we need is so much better than Walmart across the street!  We try to get as few things as we need to at Walmart and shop everything else at Aldi's.

And our Rendezvous play went well tonight.  There were still two shows since the pageant is over and the folks around here need something to do in the evenings.  Mom and I have the main parts on Thursday and we found out all the YPM's will be in attendance at the 8:15pm show!  Fun!  And Jackie was able to come to our show tonight for the 7:00pm showing.  It has been great to have her come and share this time with us!  Our schedules have really been accommodating for us to be able to spend the most amount of time with her!

  1. It's hard to believe you are that close to finishing up. We will miss following your blog. And, it sounds like while we've been away the kids have been playing changed the ward boundaries on us. We will especially miss not being in the ward with you guys. We both send our love.
