August 6, 2016 - Saturday in Nauvoo

Jackie and Devyn left this morning to begin their trip back to Rigby.  It was so good to see them and have Jackie stay with us.  Devyn had a wonderful EFY and we got to see her at one of the Sunset performances, this week, that she attended with her EFY group.  We are excited to see everyone back home in the very near future!  Jackie was gracious to take some of our items home with her that we won't be needing here in Nauvoo.  We worked a small miracle in getting some loaded suitcases and miscellaneous items in the back seat!  Take a look at my challenge;

I was able to get almost all of this in the back seat!
The temperature was a cool 63 degrees this morning.  After we had our morning devotional and our prayers, we made our way around Nauvoo for our walk.  The air was cool with a little breeze and it felt good to have a sweatshirt on... imagine that!  It is always a great way to start the day.  Look at this morning sky;

Such magnificent cloud formations that change everyday
We were assigned to the Handcart Station and our first group was scheduled at 8:00am.  As we were driving to the Handcart Station, we met one of the wagons heading down to the Family Living Center to begin the wagon rides.  The teamsters informed us that we had groups waiting!  We got there in less than 2 minutes and met nine visitors that woke up early and decided to take the one mile trek without setting up a reservation....  No problem!  These nine visitors made up two groups and we got them organized and on their way within ten minutes.  They could not have picked a better morning!

Our 8:00am group came on time and then a group of 34 came about 45 minutes later.  We discovered that the second 8:00am group was actually a double booked group.  The 34 trekkers that came 45 minutes later just decided this morning to take a family reunion trek together.  Our total trek count today was 55 trekkers and we started with reservations for 13!

And now for some pictures from home.  Today was Macie's first birthday!  Happy birthday precious girl!  Granny and Grandpa can't wait to meet you.  Here is a side-by-side comparison of 12 month old Macie and 2 month old Levi.  Two precious grandchildren that we have yet to meet and cuddle;

Precious children!  #19 on the left and #20 on the right

We had our Sunset play tonight and it was a gorgeous evening.  Cool breezes and a fun audience made the evening extra special.  Mom and I both had some assignments here in helping to park cars for me and mom helped with the children coloring their hats for the children's parade.  So many details to help a performance go forward!  It had been a great day!
