August 20, 2016 - Saturday in Nauvoo

It looks like we now have worked past the Saturday's activities so that we are now entering our last full week in Nauvoo.  Our assignment was working at the Family Living Center where we had 10 missionaries serving this morning and we had about 35 guests come in by noon.  Since we were the reassigned missionaries from the Handcart Station, we left early and went to the 1:00pm temple session where we served as the witness couple in a nearly full session.  We felt like we contributed much more to the work by being in the temple today!  Nauvoo is getting so quiet in comparison to what we saw here in July!

We started off this morning with our devotional and prayers.  Our walk around Nauvoo started right after our morning exercises at 5:15am.  The thunderheads were so beautiful and yet it was too dark to take the pictures of them.  We got home at about 6:30am and got ready for our assignment at the Family Living Center.  On the way out the door I got the email for our last Rendezvous schedule!  Mom and I will perform our finale on Thursday August 25th.  That will conclude a marvelous experience for us on the live performance stage!

Final Rendezvous schedule for mom and me!

As we were leaving the temple, we met Brother Shaw at the recommend desk and confirmed our dinner appointment with them tomorrow.  We have so enjoyed getting to know them and sharing some time with them when our schedules permitted.  He has also offered to take us on a temple tour on Tuesday.  The Nauvoo temple is one of the most noted temples in Mormon history.  So much of this temple has been restored to the original dimensions from the dedicated Nauvoo temple of May 1, 1845.  We are excited to see all the behind the scenes rooms!

Tonight we are relaxing and preparing for the Holy Sabbath Day tomorrow.  On the way home from the temple we stopped at the Nauvoo Fudge Factory to get some fudge for PopPop.  We are still on our treat fast and looking forward to ending that year long fast very soon...  We are grateful for the blessings that we have enjoyed here on our mission and how so many blessings have been distributed to family members!  The Lord has been so good to us!

And my final thought for the day comes from Albert Einstein;

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.
