Today we celebrated our 18 month anniversary of arriving at the MTC for our mission here in Nauvoo. We spent two and a half days there in Provo and then came directly to Nauvoo to begin this exciting chapter in our lives. As you can tell from the blog, we have had some wonderful experiences. We will end up with three volumes of this blog for our family to enjoy for many years to come! The first volume is published through August 31, 2015, and has 355 pages!
After our morning devotional and prayers, we began our invigorating walk around Old Nauvoo. The temperature registered at 68 degrees when we started at 5:15am this morning, but we soon realized that the humidity was closer to 90%! We could almost cut through the humidity walking through the fog like conditions!

Our assignment for today was at the Visitor's Center from 3:00pm until 9:00pm. That gave us the whole morning off! So we got ready and attended the 9:00am temple session. We were asked to be the witness couple, again. That always makes us feel needed and grateful to have made the extra efforts to attend. The Temple President even stopped me as I was waiting for mom to come down after the session, and thanked us for our dedication to being in the temple this last 18 months. We count it such a blessing and privilege to attend the temple on a regular basis.
Here is a quick story about our session, today. A member of the mission presidency, who was released last week because of being diagnosed with prostate cancer, was scheduled to have surgery today in a Chicago hospital. He and his wife drove there Sunday after the meetings. In addition, he and his wife have been very emotional about his health crisis and they both spoke in Sacrament on Sunday. Well, I put his name on the prayer roll again this morning and during the prayer, the officiator asked that those who had their names placed on the rolls today would be "patient" and except the "will of the Lord".
When mom and I got to the Visitor's Center this afternoon, the released counselor was there. Apparently the cancer had spread to his bladder and the surgery was canceled to allow him to have radiation treatment. That process takes about two months, so he was released to go home. I have not yet talked to him about the prayer, but isn't it interesting how the Lord is in the details of our lives?
Now, to close the blog tonight, consider this thought;
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I
remember. Involve me and I learn.” Benjamin Franklin
