July 18, 2016 - Monday in Nauvoo

Mom and I were able to start our Preparation day off with our morning devotional and prayers.  We then went outside and faced some hot and humid temperatures as we took our morning walk around Nauvoo.  Since this was our preparation day, we had no set schedule.  We took our walk, and got back home at a little past 6:00am.  Then, we got ready for the day and attended the 8:00am temple session.  This was the first full session we have been in for a very long time!

And, by the way, on the walk we got a picture of Bambi and his twin sister;

They were not even looking at us as we were walking by!
Then, after the session, we drove to Quincy for our grocery shopping.  Mom and I have cut way back on groceries so that we can use what we have already accumulated.  We have tried to focus just on the fresh fruits and vegetables and Almond Milk.

The trip to Quincy was probably not necessary, but it gave us a chance to have a nice morning together.  We then drove into Carthage on the way back for lunch at a Mexican food restaurant on the town square.  Unfortunately, our lunch was compromised when mom saw a grey hair in the salsa... most likely this will be our last restaurant outing like this!

Early this afternoon, we got back home after driving through Keokuk for a few more items.  The temperatures were now in the high 80's and now it was hot and humid!  Working together, we unloaded the car and put the supplies away.

As part of our plan for today, we went to a senior missionary's home around the corner for a quick visit.  She is in her 70's and she broke her leg working at the Facilities Management offices last week when she got her shoe caught in a threshold in one of the rooms near the greenhouses.  She is such a sweet lady and she seems to be mending much better than we were anticipating.  The doctors gave her 10 days to be back up and walking without crutches or a walker.

And so we took the rest of the day to ourselves.  Quiet time around the house doing laundry, cutting up fruit and salad, and just plain relaxing and enjoying family conversations and pictures.  Here is one of those pictures;
Here is one tuckered out little boy after a bath
Levi had a rough morning.  First, his poop exploded in his diaper and caused some compromises in his outfit, and that led to a bath.  Then, in the relaxing atmosphere of the bath house, his little dingy went off and got him in the face....  Personally, I hate this when it happens.... it is embarrassing and it causes such a fuss with the womenfolk.... Trying to get this plumbing working properly takes time, and effort, and focus!  Levi has the time, but this part about effort and focus just wears a guy out....  Thank goodness I came to this family that loves me just the way I am!!
