July 11, 2016 - Monday in Nauvoo

This was a very busy preparation day for us.  After a very good nights rest, we were up early for our morning devotional and prayers.  We then took the sweet opportunity to take our long morning walk around Nauvoo.  We left the house at about 4:50am and it was already 70 degrees outside.  However, a cool breeze was blowing and by the time we got back to the house, it was still 70 degrees.  I was pretty wet from the humidity, but the breezes kept me feeling cool!

The day dawn is breaking over Nauvoo
The timing was so good on our walk, that we were able to make the 8:00am temple session.  We had a good size group this morning, comparatively speaking, with other Monday's.  There were eight men and about fourteen women in the session.  Included in that count were our friends the Skinner's.  That is always fun to have the missionaries serving with us attend the same session.  We then planned a trip to Quincy later on this afternoon with them and with Elder and Sister Webb.

After our temple session ended at 10:00am, mom and I went to Carthage for my six-week haircut.  Then we headed over to Keokuk for our weekly shopping trip to Aldi's and Wal Mart.  The temperatures were rising fast and had already hit the 80's by the time we got back to our home at noon.  The Skinner's came and picked us up at our house about 1:15pm.   Then we went over and picked up the Webb's at their house on the flats.

Our trip to Quincy was in support of another senior couple, The Winegar's who were there in the hospital.  Elder Winegar got sick last Saturday, and was in the hospital for some pretty extensive testing.  It was good to go down there and lend them some moral support.  Elder Skinner picked us up at our home in his six passenger truck, but since someone had to sit in the front center seat, he asked me to drive.  He is a lot smaller than I am, but that position was still pretty uncomfortable for an almost three hour drive!

After our visit at the hospital, and after two Priesthood Blessings, we took time for a late lunch at Panda Express there in Quincy.  We made a quick stop at the Wal Mart for some P-day shopping for the Skinner's on our way home.  We got back to our home just a little before 7:00pm.

It made for a long day and we were not able to get everything done around the house, but it was worth it to show our support and love for the Winegar's.

Now for a few pictures of one growing boy!  We love getting pictures from our family!!

One precious loving little Levi!

Mom asked how the "little guy" was and this is what we got!

It has been a busy day with a lot of driving.  However, we were blessed to have a wonderful and safe day with missionary friends.  And what was especially nice was that we had the night off from any shows or assignments!  Thank you for checking in with us!
