March 9, 2016 - Wednesday in Nauvoo

This was our last relocation day as we completed the move into our new residence.  The first item on our agenda, after our morning devotional and prayers, was the Wednesday training meeting.  We had our weekly meeting under a new format with training being done by the 4 different Zone Leaders.  We also had a change in the mission presidency with two new Zone Leaders.  Mom and I got a little surprise by being sustained as assistant site leaders at the Handcart Site.  Last week we indicated to the outgoing 1st counselor that we would be interested in that opportunity.  Today we were sustained!  Hopefully we will be told, very soon, what this will entail!

After our meetings we attended the 10:00am temple session, and we were asked to be the witness couple.  The session was wonderful and we spent the afternoon relaxing.  I was still tired from our move!  It was so good to just relax and enjoy the day, and not have to be at any particular place.  Mom was able to get her dress that she will wear during the treks here.  We even went to the Handcart Site and checked out part of the first trail!  And this afternoon I was able to catch a quick nap and mom was well on her way to completing another baby blanket.... this one will be for either Faith or Macie;

Quilt #19!
It has been a quiet and yet interesting day, as well as having seen the calling and sustaining of new mission leaders.  It is a fascinating process to see how the Lord works in selecting leaders in the mission field.  There have been a few individuals that have been stepping up their performances under the new mission presidency.  The challenge to take over the running of a mission with over 100 senior missionaries, (and soon to be over 200), has to be a daunting task!
