November 11, 2015 - Wednesday in Nauvoo

Looks like we have some exciting news about the weather today... we are on a tornado watch until about 9:00pm tonight!...  I thought that I would record my blog just in case the internet goes down!

We had our training meeting today and acknowledged the release of the 1st counselor in the mission presidency and the calling of his replacement.  These counselors do not get set sustained or set apart, but we do show our support by the uplifted hand.

Then we had our training from the mission president on the urgent need for more efforts to find and invite prospective members to learn more about the Church.  There is a real focus on this from the leading councils of the Church since baptisms are down by 20%.  I'm not sure the time period that this percentage is representing, but there is a real concern world-wide.  And with the additional focus on the updated Handbook #1 concerning same sex marriages, there have been not just a few ruffled feathers among the Latter-day Saints!

After our meetings, we came home to start the process of finalizing those in the mission who will help with the cooking of the missionary dinner that has been delegated to us by the Nauvoo Stake President.  There is an effort to invite and involve families who are less active, investigating the Church, or are new members to the Church, here in the Nauvoo Stake, to an activity and dinner here in Nauvoo.  The success of the effort depends on the participation of the stake members and there is widespread confusion on this entire activity.  Right now, I am guessing that we will prepare about 225 meals on that Saturday even though we have not been given one confirmation...

I got the car washed and we went grocery shopping in Keokuk this afternoon and now its time to stay home and wait out the storm!  We just had some heavy rain and that was brief and has passed us by.  (yes, rain on my clean car)...And I still have the internet connection!

Thank you for checking in with us tonight!
