The wind caused the temperatures to fall this morning and we had a dusting of snow. That eliminated our walk this morning so I was limited to my workout here in the house. Mom and I are enjoying our morning devotionals and prayers together. We are also picking out a variety of Scriptures each week to "ponderize" and reflect on how the message they espouse impacts our lives. Reading the Scriptures every day has had such a powerful and positive impact on my life! I am working hard to commit more of these messages to memory. Today was a good day to further these efforts!
We had our Preparation-day today and did our grocery shopping in Keokuk. We then went to the Post Office and mailed off another birthday hat! We have a 9th birthday celebration coming up for Bobby, and his hat is in the mail! We then came home and enjoyed the warmth and protection of our little cottage as the wind and snow raged on outside. It was a treat to stay home and enjoy one another's company this afternoon and this evening. Mom did a marvelous "happy hop" dance when she found out there was no Rendezvous tonight! It was just a good night to stay home... warm and safe and cozy!
Being with my sweetheart is such a special time, and it just gets better every day. But the key ingredient in making the time together wonderful, is not making the mistake of focusing on me. Selfishness is just too often the stumbling block that many of us fall on in our relationships. I am finding out that talking and listening both have their place in our lives. Talking, about 10% and listening about 90%..... and sometimes even more listening! Ahhhh the joys of learning! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Here we go on anniversary year #40! It's going to be a great year!
