Mom and I had a schedule today that put us at the Visitors' Center from 3:30pm until closing at 9:00pm. It is definitely not the best time of our day to be far away from being able to be in our jammies, and having mom in bed by 7:00pm! But it was our schedule and she was a trooper in fulfilling this assignment.
We began our day with our three mile walk. It was a little later than usual that we started the walk. Since we had the later shift, we waited for the sunrise and left about 6:30am. Once we got back to the trailer, we had breakfast and got ready for the day. I was sitting in the recliner chair, dozing a little bit, at around 10:30am, when a knock came on our front door. It was Elder Reese.
He and his wife were concerned about us having the closing shift, knowing that mom likes to be in bed early. The Reese's have the Visitors' Center shift, today from 2:30pm to 8:00pm. They wanted to switch shifts with us and, if the Visitors' Center was quiet, like it was last night when they closed, they wanted us to leave for home before 8:00pm and they would cover for us. Now that is the definition of ministering. They recognized our position for getting to bed early, and they filled that need!
Needless to say, this was an acceptable, and very generous, offer for us, and we thanked them for their kindness and their thoughtfulness on our behalf. And true to their word, the last visitors today stopped coming at around 5:00pm. We had a wonderful hour with them with no one coming into the Martin's Cove area. They then took a 15 minuted lunch break and sent us home at around 6:45pm.
What a great, and very unexpected, example of ministering to mom and me. It is certainly not rocket science, but I know that this experience tonight is exactly what President Nelson spoke to us about at General Conference. And this is the example that Elder Holland and Sister Bingham spoke about when they shared their talks and expanded on ministering.

So mom and I were home by 7:15pm, and mom was in bed by 7:45pm. We have enjoyed this day and the lessons that were taught to us about ministering. Heavenly Father is very mindful of each of our needs, and He is anxious to fill these needs by working through each one of us. Some would suggest that the one hour difference would not be that big a deal... That is, until you talk to mom and me about the impact this has had on our day! Thank you for joining us tonight!
Aww, I love that! These are the tender mercies that remind us the Lord really cares about what is important to us individually❤️ I’m so happy that Elder and Sister Reese heeded that prompting so we could all feel and be reminded of the Lord’s love and concern for each of us!
ReplyDeleteI love you guys!!!❤️❤️❤️ Missing you a lot!😘
Awwwww such a simple gesture but it meant so much. They were aware of you, they know you, and so they saw need and fulfilled it. What an example to us all. Such a sweet tender mercy!
ReplyDeleteWe sure love you two!❤❤❤
That is so neat and so kind!! ❤️ What a great example! I love that Heavenly Father is so aware of each of us and prompts us to take care of each other's needs so beautifully!! 😍❣️❣️
ReplyDeleteThank you Elder and Sister Reese for taking such good care of my parents! 💕
