Ohhhh what a long day we have had today! We had our first assignment at the Welcome Post at 5:30am. We greeted a ward group of 108 from Sixth Crossing at 6:15am. They were right on time! Our next group of 460 were due at 7:00am. They had not shown up by 7:30am so the office called Sixth Crossing to see where they were. On their own personal itinerary they were scheduled at 10:00am, and had called the office this morning to change that to 11:00am. However, there was no office personnel to answer the phone at 7:30am, so they made arrangements with the answering machine!!
I got this early morning picture of the sunrise over the Devil's Gate landmark;

We went back to the trailer at Missionary Village and made a lunch since we had to return at 10:30am and cover it until our group got in at 3:00pm. And then, we had the Trail Guide assignment at 3:00pm to guide them into the Cherry Creek campground. The group we were assigned to at 3:00pm, had another 460 trekkers in two groups of 230. Mom and I had the second group, and, to our surprise, they had no trek leader. He was in the first group! Now, having no leader, I found this was an interesting group to lead!
As we were approaching their campground at 6:00pm, the wind picked up, and the gales were reportedly up to 40 mph. And it was a head wind! With the time delays of the trekkers, we had 18 buses come in for the day. And the Outfitting Post was pretty busy!

Needless to say, mom and I are beat. We take this group through the 7 mile trek tomorrow, beginning at 8:30am at Cherry Creek campground. That is why this is a short post and I will have more details tomorrow. Here is a picture of the group on the first leg of the trek to camp;

Attack and adjust are not just action words here in the mission field! I think the important thing is to make this effort as positive as possible. Mom and I were both ready for bed by the time we got home at 6:30pm. More tomorrow!
We sure love our Senior Missionaries!! You are amazing!💜
