16 August 2018 - Thursday
Today we were awarded an extra preparation day, and we sure took excellent advantage of it! Mom and I took our three mile walk, this morning, and noticed that the sun rise was a little later this morning. Fall is fast approaching!
We got back to the trailer at just about 6:30am, and finished getting ready for the day. Our correlation meeting started at 8:30am, but we wanted to get to the Homestead so that we could begin our cleaning assignment, for our district, before the meeting began. That was short-lived since the rooms we were assigned to clean was locked!
The correlation meeting was rather lively this morning. Soon we will be having missionary couples heading for home. That makes for some trunky missionaries! It is all in the name of fun, and many are enjoying their last meetings together. Everyone got their assignments and then we were off to finish our weekly district cleaning assignment.
Mom and I got back to the trailer at around 11:00am. That gave us several hours to get the trailer ready for the Lasher family's arrival. They finally drove up at 4:00pm and we were so excited to see them! This is the picture I was waiting for;

The anticipation of having family here is so exciting for two senior missionaries! We got the van unloaded and made arrangements for some food for everyone. Then we got back into the cars and headed off to the Homestead and Martin's Cove. We were excited to have two of the mission Rovers made available to us to take the family into the cove. The mosquitoes were pretty much kept at bay as we drove back into the Martin's Cove area.
I absolutely love telling mission stories to the grandchildren. I had a few ready for them and then had them ask me some questions. It is so much fun to tell these stories, in person, and have their undivided attention.

We had a wonderful late afternoon together and got home just before the sun set. In fact, I caught a picture of the setting sun as we were driving in to Missionary Village;

Granny and Grandpa were so grateful for this day finally arriving! We are starting to settle down for the evening, and Granny has already been in bed for three hours. I am about to join her! We have the early shift at the Visitors' Center, and need to be there by 8:00am. That is the perfect shift so that we have the entire afternoon off to show them the Homestead tomorrow. Then we have a mission barbecue at 6:00pm tomorrow evening. We have had a wonderful day!
Yay!! Glad they made it safe!! Enjoy your visit! We sure love and miss you!!
