16 July 2018 - Monday - Happy Birthday Bob Jr!

16 July 2018 - Monday

It was 38 years ago today that Bob entered into our growing family!  It is still quite a story as to how we handled, (or better yet, how the Lord handled), his delivery!  We were living in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the time, and the doctor, Dr' Staheli, who mom was seeing, lived in St. George, Utah, about two and a half hours away.  We had one false alarm two weeks prior to Bob's arrival, so our prayer was to know just when he was ready to come and to avoid a delivery, by his father, in the Nevada desert!

Mom got the impression to go to St. George on July 15, after she had had a burst of energy cleaning the house in Las Vegas.  We left for St. George with Josie in tow.  She was just over one year old.  As we entered St. George, we were impressed to go and see our missionary friends in Hurricane, Utah.  This was about  a 30 minute drive from St. George.  We asked our friends, Keith and Carol Tobler,  if we could drop Josie off, with them, and come back in the morning to pick her up.

They readily agreed and were quite anxious to see what would happen in the next 12 hours.  So were we!  We got a hotel room in St. George, about 5 minutes from the hospital, and went to sleep.  Mom went into hard labor about 2:30am.   Of course I had to take a shower before we left for the hospital... that did not go over very well... But I did hurry, and Bob was born at 5:30am on that Wednesday morning.  I held him, and kissed mom, and went back to the Tobler's house in Hurricane, and got there just as Josie woke up!  Now I ask you, was Heavenly Father in the matrix plan for this family?

Happy Birthday Bob!

Mom and I enjoyed a wonderful morning together as we prepared for the day.  We had correlation meeting at 8:30am at the Homestead.  And our morning routine included a three mile walk, together, out to the main highway.  The sunrise, this morning, was another exquisite showing of the artworks of Heavenly Father's Hand;

This is a picture taken at 5:30am

The clouds and the sun make a great artist's conception!

I could not decide on which picture to use!

And the sun comes rising up - just like the youth in Zion rise up!
The pictures that come up in our morning walks are so addicting!  It is very quiet here, in the morning, and the openness of the high plains is breathtaking.  Our morning walk lasted a little less than an hour.  We were back home about 6:10am, and finished getting ready for our correlation meeting, and then our P-day.

Since we go to Rock Creek Thursday, today was the day we stocked up for our needs for the 7 day adventure at Rock Creek Hollow.  It will be very busy during the week we are there.  We have the Riverton, Wyoming Stake celebrating my baptism date of July 24th on Saturday.... (or maybe it is Pioneer Day).  Either way, we are going to have some wonderful activities there, and we are looking forward to the experience.

While staying at Rock Creek, we will not be able to reach an internet feed, but I am hoping to do my blog in daily drafts, and then publish them when we return back to Missionary Village.  We are anticipating a similar experience here at Rock Creek Hollow, as we had at Carthage.  The feelings of sacrifice and hope for each of us is very apparent at both locations.  Remember, is the action word that President Kimball indicated may be one of the most important words in the dictionary!

Then, as we were returning to our trailer at the Missionary Village, from Casper, we saw these thunderhead clouds forming;  They had a small chance to cause some rain this evening, but that did not materialize.

We had 4 large groups of trekkers begin their experience here today.  There were about 650 trekkers in the four groups.  Tomorrow, we have 1,000 trekkers, in six groups, and mom and I have the first group arriving at 8:00am.  That means there will be about 1,650 trekkers sharing the trails at Martin's Cove throughout the day.  Wish us luck!  It will be a crazy great day!

We have done all we can as missionaries here at the Wyoming Mormon Trail Mission, to prepare for these wonderful groups, and it will be in the Hands of the Lord to help us pull this all together!  This will be a fun week, and very busy week at the same time!  And just think, many of these groups will be at Rock Creek on Thursday and Friday during our watch there!
