Today we served as the Cherry Creek Campground Hosts for the second of three days. We got everyone settled in last night, and were back at the campground at 6:00am this morning! Our first trek group was scheduled to leave at 7:00am, and the second group was scheduled at 9:00am. As the camp hosts, we arrive an hour earlier than the first trek is scheduled to begin. That gives us an hour to make sure the camp is in satisfactory order before they leave. And these two groups were awesome!
It was a lot of fun getting to know the trek leaders. We spent some time with them yesterday, and again this morning, sharing some very special points, along the trails, to reinforce the faith these precious pioneers had, then, and how that might apply to the youth today. I suggested some areas for the Bishops' to give their ward young men and young women a Bishop's blessing. There are several significant areas that we will share with you when you come! Here are some morning pictures;

When mom and I left our trailer at Missionary Village the sun was just coming over the horizon. Then, as we pulled into the Homestead, at Martin's Cove, we caught the second sunrise! Now how many times does that happen??
As I have mentioned a few times on this blog, the Lord knows each one of us, and is ready to bless us in the details of our lives! The picture of Sister Rhees is more than that of a Trek Leader from the Cascade 5th Ward! It so happened that when we had our mission trek leader training in April, we sat with her and her husband at the dinner the mission supplied. There were over 100 people at this training, and on the week we were the Camp Hosts, we got to be with her group!
She was so anxious about making this experience so perfect for her youth. She is currently serving as the Young W omens' Secretary in her ward, and was so willing to do everything she could to enhance the trek experience. Mom and I were grateful to have this re-connection!

Our responsibilities, this morning, were to help the trek groups get started, and then to check out the camp and the restrooms. The youth and the adults worked hard and left the camp better than they found it! An obvious sign of great leadership!!
They are ready and excited to trek! |
And here comes the clean-up committee! |
These seagulls could not wait for the campers to vacate! They were flying low and scouting out the crumbs, or leftover snacks. When they could not find any leftovers, this next picture shows a seagull who came just to pose for the picture!

Mom and I were done with our assignment by 9:45am. We drove back to the Missionary Village and had our favorite meal! Breakfast for lunch! We are scheduled to speak in Sacrament this Sunday so we will be fasting through our meetings, then. So we decided to have our favorite meal after a great morning as Camp Hosts! And we are excited for the opportunity to speak! Have a great night! We love you!!
Did you have pancakes? That is so cool! It seems so neat to be there! I love you!
ReplyDeleteThat's neat that you were their camp hosts. Tender mercy for sure!
