May 3, 2016 - Tuesday in Nauvoo

Oh what a beautiful morning!  The temperatures were in the high 40's as we began our morning devotional and prayers.  And our walk around the flats here in Old Nauvoo was invigorating!  As we walked along the Mississippi River, I caught a picture of this family;

The family morning constitutional
And then I caught these two geese as morning guards for other family members down the hill.  As we looked where they were honking, we saw a mother sitting on her brood, and another mother leading her group to the river.  It was so interesting to see these warning birds protecting the two mother geese!

I just missed the one on the left leaning his head way back to "honk"!

The mother on the left is sitting on her brood and the other is heading to the water
It is fascinating to see nature in full swing here in Nauvoo.  The Spring weather is bringing out more of the animal kingdom.  My cell phone camera is doing a great job of capturing most pictures, but the pictures I need to enlarge from a distance leave a lot to be desired!

And here is the cloud covering we saw this morning as we started off on our walk;

An interesting inverted reflection!
 Mom and I both worked at the Family Living Center and worked the same shift!  We have a great schedule this week, where we either worked together, or we work the same shift, at a very close-by historic site.  I think this may be one of our best schedules, ever, since moving back to Nauvoo from Carthage!

Our assignment ended at 2:30pm this afternoon.  We then came straight home, and I took advantage of the beautiful spring-like afternoon and mowed the lawn.  The dandelions were in their full prime!  I was delighted to take them down and perform the "diamond cut" on the lawn.  Right now the yard looks awesome.  Within the next 48 hours, though, the dandelions will be back in full bloom!  It was a wonderful 90 minute workout!
