December 5, 2015 - Saturday at Julie's in Blue Springs, MO

This started off as a pretty exciting day and we were not disappointed.  We could not take our usual walk, this morning, because of our planned trip to Julie's home in Blue Springs.  We had an early shift today at the Visitor's Center and tomorrow we are scheduled off and Monday is our P-day. What a perfect recipe for a trip to see Julie!  The weather is picture perfect for a road trip, with sun and no rain in the forecast, for the next few days.

Mom started our laundry at 5:15am this morning so that it would be done before we left.  We got all of our things packed for the two day trip and then headed off to the Visitor's Center for our shift.  It was very quiet today and we had less than 30 guests come in.  Our closing shift came in at 1:00pm and we gave them the orientation and then we were off!

Here are a few pictures from today;

This sunset took mom back to her college days!

Another view of that sunset tonight
Granny used to sit on a rooftop in her dormitory at the University of Missouri at Columbia in the early 1970's and watch these beautiful sunsets.  She would tell me that there was never any two sunsets the same.  She would never tire from watching these beautiful scenes night after night!

We got to Julie's home at about 6:30pm.  The drive was almost exactly 4.5 hours from Nauvoo.  We are so grateful we took this special opportunity to come to see her!  And tomorrow, we will see Steve and Brenda and Jenny and her family.  This is a long awaited Dorsey Family reunion, only we are missing the Patriarch, PopPop!  Here is a quick snapshot of Julie and the two king dogs that allow Julie to stay here.....

Getting ready for the nightly walk!

They are going to let mom and I stay tonight!
We had a safe drive down here this afternoon.  Mom and I both agree that the drives lasting more than 5 hours or that extend to after sunset, are no fun for two senior missionaries....  We prefer to leave earlier in the morning and take a few more leg stretching breaks!  But it is good to be here and have some time with mom's family!
