June 12, 2016 - Sunday in Nauvoo

Here is a big Happy Birthday wish to my brother, Doug, who is celebrating his 58th birthday today!  Happy Birthday Doug, and many happy returns!

June is shaping up to be a great birthday month!  Ali started off the month on the 4th, Cambry was the 6th, then Levi arrived on June 10th, my brother Doug, today, Zac will turn 12 tomorrow, Cody celebrates on the 25th and Laura is on the 27th!  If only we were home and we were able to eat birthday cake..... ohhhhh yeah!!!  Maybe next year for the cake extravaganza!

We enjoyed a wonderful Sacrament meeting today, along with the Sunday School, and the Priesthood and Relief Society meetings.  We had the assignment to work at the Lucy Mack Smith home this afternoon, after church, so we drove over to the Stake house for our morning meetings.  The temperatures were already in the 70's when we left our home at 7:00am this morning.  Summer has arrived!

Then we came home and had our breakfast for dinner.  I think this is my favorite meal next to Thanksgiving and pumpkin waffles!  We left our little cottage, for our site assignment at a few minutes past 12 noon, and arrived at the site assignment by 12:15pm.  Right away we had a family ready to see the historic home and we started a few minutes early to accommodate their schedule.  We had 12 tours and all were great family groups.

One family was from Blackfoot and had just had their missionary return from the Baltic Mission and another one leaving in two weeks for Georgia.  They came to the historic sites dressed in their Sunday best in keeping with the Sabbath Day.  A very impressive family of 6 boys and 1 girl.  The girl was right in the middle of the ages of the 6 boys.  There was such a light coming from this family!

Then we had a sweet visit from the Pursel's, a senior couple who arrived here last month.  They were bringing treats around to those who had assignments today and they made an extra effort to bring us a "non treat" treat!  Those little efforts go such a long way!

And finally I got this picture from my sister, Jackie.  She was attending a graduation and took a selfie of her and my Aunt Toni and cousin Kathy.  My Aunt Toni is the last surviving relative from her generation in our family.  She is 96 years old and does not look that at all!

I have been blessed with a wonderful family!  The love that has been shared over the years has been a great stabilizing force in my life!  Isn't the Gospel wonderful with the saving ordinances of the temple and the promises of life eternal with our families?  That caught my attention almost 45 years ago!
