April 15, 2015 - Wednesday

Our day got off to a fast start with mom getting up early for some laundry, and then getting me up for my exercise and our devotional before our weekly Wednesday morning training meeting.  That meeting was at 7:45am and we needed to be there at 7:30am so we would not be late.

So you see we were up early again this morning to get the day off and running.  It is also our preparation day with lots of extra things to do like the Rendezvous play tonight at 7:00pm and the training meeting this morning at 7:45am.  We are literally running on most days and it is a wonder if we get anything accomplished!

After the training meeting, mom and I attended the 10:00am temple session.  The temple will close this Saturday for two weeks for cleaning so we needed to make this session on our "day off".  We then went shopping for some basic grocery items and then back to Carthage for a few hours.  I took up part of that afternoon time by washing and detailing the van.  Those Illinois bugs did not want to come off!

But, as you can see in the pictures below, Nauvoo is beginning to blossom! -

This is the garden area in front of the Nauvoo Visitors Center.  The flowers were reaching high in the sky for that welcomed sunlight.  They will all be over the bloom in just a few weeks and then the gardeners here will plant tens of thousands of additional flowers that are currently growing in the mission green houses.

This is a view of some of the garden areas of the Nauvoo Temple.  The air was alive with the wonderful fragrances of these beautiful flowers!  That is our white van backed up to the curb in the back of this picture!

This is the terrace area behind the Nauvoo Temple.  The garden workers here do such a great job with the temple grounds!!

This is the south side entrance to the Nauvoo Temple.  What a colorful welcome this is to the morning temple workers!

Rendezvous went well tonight.  Our cast has almost doubled and many of the new missionaries gave their first performances tonight.  In fact, mom was cut out of her speaking part tonight and she was a pretty happy missionary!  We have come a long way in developing some talents that were dormant, and overcoming some fears of wondering way outside our comfort zones, but we will always prefer not to be on stage.  Our ultimate role in this life is to be a part of our precious family and to be there when they need us.

We sure miss those precious grandchildren!  The time can't seem to come fast enough to be reunited with them, but know that we are trying our best to be good and faithful missionaries.  Thank you for checking out the blog tonight!  You have been in our prayers and on the prayer rolls of the Nauvoo Temple!

We love you!
